Obstinately trying to have the last word!



Iraq is written with a ‘q’ in standard, formal US English too. The Iraqi government also calls itself ‘The Republic of Iraq’ in English.
‘Heavily populated’ remains a more common expression than ‘populous’. There is also ‘densely populated’ with a slightly different meaning.
The population of Turkey was 76 million at the end of 2013 and that of Germany was 81 million. So the population of Turkey has not overtaken that of Germany yet, but it will soon.
