The Arab Spring still has a long way to go as far as human rights are concerned.

22 January 2013 – Human Rights Watch says that the human rights situation around the world remains critical at the start of 2013 with human rights violations occurring regularly in 90 countries, including those which recently overthrew dictatorships and tyrannies. In particular the new governments  produced by the Arab Spring must be held accountable by the international community for ending oppressive police practices and human rights abuses, especially those relating to women and minorities. The main task of these governments must be to ensure a real transition to a stable society based on democratic values and not a return to the abuses and violations practiced by the former regimes.
